Dr. Ren Wu is the Founder and CEO of NovuMind, where he is leading the effort to push the frontier of artificial intelligence and enable the Intelligent Internet of Things.
Previously, Dr. Wu was a Distinguished Scientist at Baidu. Before that, he served as Chief Software Architect of Heterogeneous System Architecture at AMD. Earlier, he was a Senior Scientist at HP Labs in USA and the Principal Researcher at HP Lab's CUDA Research Center. Dr. Wu is known as a pioneer in the use of GPUs to accelerate big data analytics and for his contributions to large-scale heterogeneous computer design. Dr. Wu is also known for his early work on artificial intelligence. His Xiangqi (Chinese chess) program was twice world champion and dominated the computer Xiangqi field for more than a decade. Dr. Wu received his PhD in Computer Science from Queen Mary University of London.
Outside of work, Dr. Wu is an avid photographer and loves the outdoors.
John has over 25 years of scientific, design, and management experience in the semiconductor industry. He came to us from Alchip, where he was Chief Scientist, after holding prior senior positions at Celestial Semiconductor, Tensilica, Marvell Semiconductor, and PMC-Sierra.
John graduated with BSEE/BSMSE degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, MSMSE from Stanford University, PhD in EE from Dartmouth, and did post-doctoral work at MIT. He holds 4 US patents in IC design and has published numerous IEEE refereed papers.
John loves golf. We sometimes see him outside the office practicing his swing in the California sunshine.
John came to us from NVIDIA, where he was a Senior Marketing Director. John's expertise includes AI, high performance computing and visual computing technologies. His previous experience includes sales and marketing roles at SGI and Hewlett Packard.
John is in charge of our sales operations and he is based in our Beijing office.
When not working, John enjoys different sports including badminton.
